March 2006

We're just back from two great days at the Streets of Willow. With rain forecast for the second day, we had to bribe a few students into staying with the promise of revealing "The Secret". Everyone had so much fun riding that we were able to lock The Secret back in its Kryptonite box. Maybe we'll break it out at Thunderhill on April 4th and 5th.

Our Miller Motorsports Park dates on April 17-18 are filling up fast. Yes it costs more than our standard school, but the track is 4.5 miles long! If the rumors are true about MMP, this is definitely a case of getting what you pay for.

In STAR racing news, Jason finished 9th in the AMA Superstock and Superbike races at Daytona. JP finished on the podium there in 2005, and won't be satisfied with anything less. Michael Jordan Motorsports just completed a two-day test at Barber Motorsports Park in preparation for the next AMA National in April, where they made progress on both bikes. “This test went very well for me,” Jason said. “For the first time, we really, really tested and that’s what we needed to do. I’m so excited to come back here and race.”

Jordan Motorsports GSXRs have a new look for 2006.

STAR Instructors James Lickwar and Dean Mizdal were also at Daytona for the AMA races. Lick and his rider Robertino Pietri had an unbelievable weekend, finishing 7th in the AMA Superstock race in their class debut on the Roadracingworld.com Suzuki. Deano kept up his decade-long string of Daytona luck, smoking his clutch on the starting line of the Superbike race and ending his race before it started. In his own words: "What is the definition of insanity? Repeating the same mistake and expecting a different result."

Jason heads down to the street races to help pay for the new STAR truck.

STAR would like to extend a warm welcome to its newest instructor, Andrew Trevitt. Andrew is a Senior Editor at Sport Rider Magazine, and a former Canadian Superbike Series and AMA 250 Grand Prix front-runner. He's sure to be an asset at STAR, as we exploit his riding (and Geek) skills. Read Andrew's story on building and racing a Formula Extreme bike for fellow Instructor Corey Neuer here.

RIDE SAFE,

STAR

We are working hard to make STAR better, and we're always open to suggestions.
